American R&B/soul vocal group formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1960. Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. Played a major role in the development of the Philadelphia soul sound. Philadelphia International Records grew in part from Gamble and Huff's early success with the group.
